Ah yes – maybe we can’t beat the Lightning – but at the
opposite end of the spectrum (Editor – is that a former Flyer’s arena name
pun?) (Dave Pucks – not intentionally – but I’ll take it) we have the Rangers recent
mastery over the Flyers.
For the 2nd time in a week – Cam Talbot comes in –
comes on – stops the bleeding – and shuts out the Philadelphia Flyers. This time it’s a 3-0 finish that includes a
few choice elements:
-
Marty St. Louis scored his 1000th
(and 1001st) career NHL points.
And he is only the 5th ever undrafted player to do so.
-
Ryan McDonagh returned to the lineup after an 11
game absence and we are whole again. And
Ryan collected an assist to boot.
-
Our special teams won the game with a Power Play
and Shorthanded goal.
-
The key sequence was when Chris Kreider
committed another brainless penalty – a double minor – and the Rangers had to defend
for 4 minutes. Instead of the Flyers
making a game of it – your heroes quickly sprung a 3-1 break (with only 4 Rangers
on the ice, no less) and Nash scored to put the game away.
We’ll play them again tomorrow – but can Hank match Cam’s
performance?
