Gameday - Avery "I'm ready to go"

Sean!

You know - we started up this site last year when the one and only Sean Avery returned to the Rangers. That's what got us pumped up here at BlueShirt Brothers.

And now we're getting psyched all over again. Sean Avery will rejoin the New York Rangers for today's home game versus the Ducks, having recovered from a pre-season knee injury.

And you know - its funny. Last Thursday we wondered in this space when (1) Sean would be back and (2) when Steve Valiquette would start giving Hank all that rest he's supposed to be getting. And it turns out the answer to both questions is today'.

Avery has been practicing with the Ranger 4th line and is likely to get his first action there. Avery and Brashear on the ice together - could be interesting. But we don't see Avery as a 4th line player. In Tort's system though, apparently, he'll have to earn his way back up the ladder.

And Valiquette gets his first start in goal. I'm interested in seeing how he will respond - we're really depending on that backup goalie slot to produce some wins this year. And if Steve can't do it - I'm still thinking pre-season standout Chad Johnson would be worth a look.

All in all - it should be fun to watch.
